About: Katie
Hello!
My name is Katie and I am 22 years old and a recent graduate from the University of New Hampshire. In May I received a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing and a minor in Dance. Now I am the Social Media Coordinator for The Meat House, a gourmet butcher and grocer. You can also find me at The Butcher’s Blog!
I love to dance and have been training since I was 6 years old in various styles and forms. I was a member of the UNH Dance Company and participated in the Aerial Dance program, which was an incredible opportunity since UNH is the ONLY university in the United States that offers Aerial. In my spare time I love to run, bike, cook and spend time with the amazing people in my life.
Before college I was a typical eater (Ramen noodles and Oreo’s were a few of my favorites) and relied on dance to keep me in shape and happy, but when college dance classes weren’t enough I turned to running and healthier eating to keep me fitting in my jeans. As for staying happy- aerial dance became an entirely new field of dance to inspire my mind, challenge my body and compliment my commitment to dance. It reminds me everyday of the joy that dance can bring when you build your muscles, stretch your emotions on the floor and create beautiful pictures all with your own body.
Your body is a machine, so give it fuel! Being a dancer there is a lot of pressure to be a certain size and shape. It has always been a struggle for me as I am short and have an athletic body with plenty of curves. The constant struggle between looking good t and feeling good is one that can haunt a dancer or any woman every day of her life. That is why I think it is incredibly important to realize that life is truly a balance between healthy eating and exercise habits and doing what makes you happy. As a dancer and a runner, I believe that properly fueling your body is essential to staying strong and healthy, but I am also a firm believer in dessert! My favorite foods are dark chocolate, ice cream, and pizza so as you can see, I am not a fan of deprivation. Moderation and healthy substitutions are key to indulging. Balance is key to happiness.
So…
Sweat everyday, and remember:
Stay Fabulous, Fit, and Full
