I am the pizza QUEEN. I don’t know what it is, but lately (as in the past 6 months) I have been on a huge pizza kick. I just can’t get enough of it! So this weekend my boyfriend and I took advantage of a Restaurant.com gift certificate to a new pizza cafe called Pannaway in Rye, NH. It is named after Pannaway Plantation, which was settled by another group of English Settlers from the Mayflower in 1623. That plantation is now called Odiorne Pointe.
We had passed by the restaurant many times before on our way to Lago’s for ice cream, but never had the courage to stop in since we hadn’t heard much about it at all. In fact, no one I know has ever seen it! We must have been brave or desperate for some cheap eats.
We went in early because we were both STARVING since we had both worked out earlier. There was literally one other person there, which was a bit akward. I really hope this place livens up past 6pm because it was truly fresh and delicious and deserved some customers!
As an appetizer (since we were about to eat eachothers faces off) we ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip which came with toast and was THE BEST THING I HAVE TASTED IN YEARS! Seriously, this place does it right. The waitress also brought us some scrumptiously doughy rolls and dipping oil.
I had the Star Island Pizza (love the local landmark nammed pizzas) which had peppers, mushrooms, garlic, broccoli and tomatoes and an amazingly fluffy crust.
Shawn had some steak tips, green beans and rice. He said they were cooked perfectly, but we were both a bit thrown off by the marinade…maybe we are just steak snobs (Shawn is a master).
Then we made our way over to Lago’s and picked up some Coffee Oreo and Butter Pecan to enjoy with some Jamie Oliver and his Food Revolution (i know its kind of hypocritical). Pizza + ice cream+ boyfriend+changing the way America eats =perfect. 🙂
